Second Chance Cat Rescue began in March 2011 with a group of 7 ladies with 3 pens. Five years on there are now 8 of us and we have 6 pens in 3 different locations. We still prefer to foster kittens in our own homes and there are 4 of us doing that when we have some in care.
We are well supported locally by Armac Vets (both in Biggar and Peebles) and Healthy Pets in Biggar. We advertise our cats on this web site and also on posters distributed around Biggar, Peebles, Moffat, Galashiels and Edinburgh (Cat Clinic).SecondChanceCats On Facebook
We aim to provide a safe place for stray or unwanted cats and kittens. We will give them all the care they need, including veterinary care, until a suitable new home can be found.
We raise money primarily by selling handmade goods at local events such as Lesmahagow and Abington shows. We hold a coffee morning in Moffat each year as well. All information about events we will be attending is on the Events page of this website. We add dates throughout the year as they become available so please check back over the course of the year. Donations of good to sell eg bric-a-brac are always welcome.
All adults cats are neutered, vaccinated, wormed and micro chipped before going to a new home.
We do not home cats or kittens to indoor-only homes unless recommended by a vet, as in the case of F.I.V. Positive cats.
We always visit prospective owners at home before they come to meet the cat/kitten.
There is no set charge for a cat/kitten, but a donation will enable us to continue the work of helping cats.
